Letters from TEAA Supported Schools |
|
Dear Mr. Goddard, On behalf of the entire community of Nyakato Secondary School let me thank you personally and on behalf of TEAA for sending us Christmas greetings. Let me take this opportunity to wish you a very prosperous new year 2006. Here in Tanzania Christmas and New year are cerebrated by everybody. It doesn't matter whether someone is a christian or not. New year marks new plans for future one must look into his past, assess his success and failures. For Nyakato the year 2006 was a very successful one. It is the year we fortunately have a contact with you, this contact has led us to much hopes for the year 2006. I think you will be glad to learn that the academic performance of our school is now rising. The form two national results are out and only 41 out of 191 students did not qualify to join form three. In Tanzania nowadays one must get an average of 30% to go to form three. This year we have managed to have 100 hundred students in science stream. In the past two years including last year not more than 50 students joined science stream. It is not that we wanted to do so but it was because of their poor performance in this field. Yours, William Mashimba, teacher Science at St. Mary's Thanks very very much for every thought you have towards St. Mary's. Dina and I together with the science department staff are very excited at the step ahead. The work on the cabinets is on and the School's Governors will meet on Friday. I believe they will be just too willing to ratify expenditure to meet the bit that we should do as a school. It is indeed a privilege to receive every offer from you. We are indeed grateful to you and the whole team that have enabled this funding. Remember it is eleven years since St. Mary's inception, with the three sciences taught in one laboratory with no proper storage facilities for the equipments, and evaded exposure to some experiments in chemistry which involve fumes because there is no Fume cupboard. We are now moving forward and I believe nothing will stop science results from improving, I am optimistic to this fact. Pass our regards to all , we always look forward to reading from you and will always keep you posted on the developments. We love you and may God bless your work, effort and all your endeavors. Odhiambo Mary, deputy principal From: Gertrude Ssekabira gsekabira@yahoo.co.uk Subject: Re: TEAA and Mackay Dear Brooks, How delighted I was to read from you! Greetings to you in this new year. We are getting on well at the school preparing to start the new term which will begin on 06-02-06, and as I write, all Head teachers have converged to select and admit Senior Ones to secondary schools. The exercise normally takes 2-3 days. On behalf Mackay Memorial College I would like to express our sincere gratitude to you & TEAA for the timely support. Definitely it has contributed to the surprising growth and development of the school in the recent past. Secondly want to appreciate your kind, encouraging words and support to my leadership. I pledge to work very hard together with my team. Thank you for the plan to support the e-mail communication. May also affirm to you that we will accommodate and feed the teacher trainer for we have no good reason to refuse. We will try our level best. Thank you too for the historical background of TEAA. It will be featured in our next magazine issue. Goodbye. Gertrude Dear Brooks, On behalf of the [A. C. Butonge High] school, students and teaching staff, I wish to express our sincere appreciation for the grant we have received from you so far. This has helped us establish our school Library both with text books and other literature books for reading. For sure this has made a tremendous change in our teaching programmes for better. We are also happy to have received communication from you concerning the short history of TEAA. We were equally happy when Ed and Henry visited our school last year. We are looking forward to your continued support to the school and established traditional relationship with you for the good of the youth of our community. On our part we promise to utilize every cent of grant in the right channel. We shall also appreciate your advice on how you would like us to do with the money. But for now our library and computer priorities stand top on our list. Thanks in Advance. Emmanuel [principal] Dear Brooks Goddard, Thank you for both letters to Dinah and Olando of St Marys and Mukuyu. When Ed and Henry were here last year, I pointed to them the need to have a direct link to the school and their heads. I am so happy that this has been achieved. I hope this will improve the communication. Mukuyu has no power and no computers [so] communication will be a problem. In Migori/Suna we have a place they can view their mails. It is only 6 Km away. Mrs. Olando is elderly and like me computers came when we were out of school. It had to teach an old dog new tricks. Thanks for the link. It is producing desired results. We have a guest house where any member of you coming can stay as long as possible at no cost. From here one would be able to travel to these schools and carry out an educational programme. There is water, power and basic African Standard utilities. Using our offices one can reach all required place. We are on main road and one can travel to places. Most Welcome. We appreciate efforts made by TEAA in improving the education of our children. May God bless you and have a blessed new year. Peter Indalo |
