Dear Henry, I must sincerely apologize that I failed to remain in constant communication with you and the rest of TEAA members. I feel so guilty about this. It sounds terrible. Please pardon me. Perhaps I should briefly explain the genesis of all this. In June, the school had a protracted court battle with a worker who retired on medical grounds and laid claim to thousands of school money. The school was poorly represented by the state counsel and eventually lost the battle. I had to enter a series of arbitrations to save the school. Property from being attached. It took a lot of time and resources but finally it was settled. But the effect on management and funding was telling. July on the other hand was largely spent at a school bus dealer in Nairobi who also failed to meet the delivery schedule. Arranging its insurance was another headache. This was compounded with impending dateline for the Parents Annual General Meeting held on 29th July 2006. Eventually all was fulfilled and the school is now a proud owner of a brand new bus. God is great. Anyhow, in spite of the breakdown in communication, the computer project is quite upbeat. Our love for details has ensured a reasonably well-designed and secured computer lab. I am sure it won't disappoint you. It was a key attraction during the parents' meeting and many were overwhelmed that their children will soon be part of this great global experience that is IT. The language here now, Henry, is accessing information technology soonest using any means. It is like everybody has just risen to its reality and what a crisis they found themselves. There is a lot of anxiety and excitement. We thank God for TEAA that we are going to be among pioneering schools to expose all our students to this technology at this level which hitherto has only been possible at university in the recent years. On computers coming through the Kenya ICT Trust Fund, we are in constant touch with Alice. We met during the Ministry of Education ICT Strategy Launch and have since been in constant communication. We are so grateful and touched that you were able to move so fast to secure us a considerable consignment of computers. God bless you generously. We filled our e-readiness assessment form on line and hopefully should receive an inspection team from the ministry by the end of this month (August). I know there is a lot I should be writing more about. I want to assure you of my commitment to remain in touch. Otherwise the school is making a lot more strides in progress as seen in National choir competition this August where it presented three items that were all ranked in position one. Henry, I assure you we are moving a mountain. Thank you and God bless. Emmanuel. |
