President's Message

Brooks Goddard

Dear fellow TEAArs,

First, greetings and Happy New Year. I hope that 2008 will be fulfilling for you. Second, the TEAA website - tea-a.org - has proven to be an effective way of sharing contemporary news and views on the current political crisis in Kenya. We have received direct word from Nairobi, western Kenya, and Entebbe/Kampala. Henry Hamburger has been diligently putting information on our website, and all this activity has made news very real for many of us. We hope for positive solutions in the near term.

Third, the Steering Committee felt that there was an initiative which arose at Seattle 07, our successful conference of last September. We'd like to become more aggressive in raising money for our schools. You may write me directly with suggestions and/or offers of participation in the fund-raising effort. Fourth, months of hard work overseeing the shipment of computers and eGranary hard drives is starting to pay off for our schools.

Fifth, I continue to encourage you to revisit East Africa and return to your former schools or, indeed, any schools. I think you will be heartened by the good work that is quietly going on. If you are planning to go or if you would like to see if other TEAAers are similarly inclined, please let us know. Sixth, pencil in the fall of 2009 for our next gathering Atlanta, Georgia. We want to hear from you. Let me conclude with repeated plug for the website which contains a wealth of information. That's tea-a.org.

Ya kuonana, Brooks Goddard, goddard@rcn.com
